The National Information Processing Institute present at the ‘’PL in ML’’ conference
The conference ‘’PL in ML’’ took place on 14-17 December, 2018. Researchers from our Institute – Marek Kozłowski and Maciej Kowalski from the Natural Language Processing Laboratory – were invited as speakers there.
They gave a lecture on machine learning methods and natural language processing used in the Uniform Anti-plagiarism System (JSA).
The speakers at the conference discussed semantic clustering, data indexing, detecting passages between texts, and stylometry.
JSA has been made available free of charge to every university in Poland. The system checks theses for plagiarism. The mandatory thesis plagiarism check in the JSA has been introduced in the amendments to the Higher Education Act adopted by the Sejm on June 25th, 2016. The regulation comes into effect at the beginning of the academic year 2018/2019.
