PIONIER-LAB – the National Platform for Integration of Research Infrastructures with Innovation Ecosystems
On 28 December, we signed a conditional agreement with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre for the implementation of the PIONIER-LAB project. The total project budget is over PLN 525 million, and the eligible expenditures exceed PLN 469 million, with the support from the European Regional Development Fund amounting to over PLN 305.5 million. Due to very high co-financing, the project will soon be notified to the European Commission as a large project and will additionally be subject to individual state aid notification. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.
PIONIER-LAB is intended as a response to the growing demand for research, development and innovation. It will support the development of information society and accelerate the speed and scale of innovation in the Polish economy in many important areas, such as: medical engineering technologies, diagnosis and therapy of civilisation-induced diseases, personalised medicine, innovative technologies, processes and products of the agricultural and forestry-wood sectors, healthy food, energy transmission and distribution systems, environment-friendly transport, innovative technologies of water processing and recovery, sensors and intelligent sensor networks, intelligent geolocation and creation technologies and networks.
The project will consists in designing and building PIONIER-LAB – the National Platform for Integration of Research Infrastructures with Innovation Ecosystems. The platform will be made available to the science and research community, enterprises and interested parties associated with business pre‑incubators based on the national research infrastructure and innovative services. The project will be implemented by 21 academic and scientific units in Poland.
The project is implemented under the 4th Priority Axis of the Smart Growth Operational Programme while the National Information Processing Institute (OPI PIB) is the Implementing Institution for Measure 4.2 “Development of modern research infrastructure in the science sector” of the Programme.
