Eight scientific entities with advanced HPC computing services

This is another agreement signed within the framework of Competition No. 2 in Measure 4.2 of the Intelligent Development Operational Programme (POIR). The project entitled “PRACE – Cooperation in Advanced Computing in Europe” will provide advanced HPC services (High Performance Computing) and data for the scholarly community in Poland and Europe. It will also enable calculations in the field of industrial research. Innovative solutions will be strengthened by cooperation between the private sector and the science sector. As a result of steps taken under the project, the position of the Polish ICT sector on the European and global markets is expected to improve as well.   

Three laboratories will be established under the project: a HPC and cloud computing laboratory, a laboratory for the management and monitoring of processing infrastructure, archiving and long-term submission of research results, management of distributed data and an infrastructure security laboratory.

The project will be implemented by a consortium consisting of eight participants headed by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences – the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre. The consortium also includes: AGH University of Science and Technology, Białystok University of Technology, Częstochowa University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Łódź University of Technology, Kielce University of Technology and Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Total project costs: PLN 233,856,996.23

Eligible costs: PLN 210,800,000.00

Co-financing: PLN 168,640,000.00
