IPI - Information Processing Institute (OPI - Ośrodek Przetwarzania Informacji) was established in 1990 as a R&D unit supervised by the Scientific Research Committee, nowadays by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The principal aim of IPI is to provide access to complex and up-to-date information concerning Polish science. The Institute manages databases, which can be used for creating policies concerning science and innovation and also to develop analyses and statistics.
